Everything that could go wrong has gone even worse. Philadelphia 76ers has witnessed how their promising sports project for this season completely fell apart due to Embiid's serious injury, the inconsistency of veterans like George and Lowry, Maxey's lack of continuity, and McCain's serious injury. But the problems may not be over yet, extending into the NBA Draft 2025.

One of the advantages that the sports disaster of this season in Philadelphia 76ers could have is the possibility of landing one of the top picks in the NBA Draft 2025. In a situation similar to the one the Warriors experienced when they picked Wiseman or Kuminga, next year the Sixers could see an important addition to their roster coming in through a rookie. Their poor record guarantees their presence in the lottery, but if they don't get a top-6 pick, they will see their Draft selection slip away.

In one of the commercial agreements of past times, it was established that the Philadephia 76ers' pick in this NBA Draft 2025 would go to the Oklahoma City Thunder, as long as it is not within the aforementioned top-6, for which Mrey set a protection. Therefore, it's crucial that they keep losing games until the end of the season and hope that luck is on their side. Otherwise, the Thunder would have the chance to further strengthen their roster with a player between the 7th and 10th pick.

The Sixers have a 64% chance of keeping their 2025 first-round pick.

If Philadelphia drops outside the top-six selections at the NBA Draft Lottery, currently a 36% chance, the Thunder gain another valuable asset.
